Therapy in Fort Worth| FAQ
How long should I expect to be in therapy?
Sessions last about 50 minutes. Longer sessions can be offered if needed. Most clients attend weekly or bi-weekly. When the problem becomes less troublesome, we go into “maintenance mode” which can mean we meet once a month or just as needed. The length of treatment varies from person to person but outcomes are more apparent when the client takes an active and engaged role in therapy.
Do you offer teletherapy sessions?
Yes. I do offer online sessions for individuals who are Texas residents. However, my work is best done face-to-face when working with couples or multiple individuals. I do require that new teletherapy clients complete and return intake paperwork 48 hours in advance or we may have to consider rescheduling your appointment.
What is the cost of therapy? Do you take insurance?
Regular 50 minute sessions cost $150. Longer sessions can be requested. The price is the same for individuals, couples, and families.
I am not on any insurance panels, but some insurance companies are willing to pay out-of-network. I do encourage you to contact your insurance company to learn about your benefits before setting up an appointment. I can provide a superbill as needed.
FSA/HSA payments are accepted.
Do you see kids?
No, but I can provide you with referrals. I have wonderful therapists in my practice that see children from 10 and up. Amy works with kids 12+ and Kate and Kandace both see kids 12+.
Another option is to search on Psychology Today or Good Therapy for kid/teen therapists.
Where are you located and what are your hours?
My address is 1509B S. University, Fort Worth, 76107 in suite 212. My office is located on the 2nd floor of the historical Ol’ South Pancake House Restaurant. The entrance is at the north end of the building.
My hours are typically 12 to 6pm except Thursdays my hours are 12 to 5pm. My calendar is available online for your convenience.
How do I schedule my first session?
You can schedule by visiting my online calendar on the Contact Page of the website. Select your preferred day and time. You will be prompted to enter in your name, phone number, and email address. A credit card is required to reserve your appointment but you will not be charged until the time of your scheduled appointment. You are also welcome to call or email me if you have any questions before scheduling your initial therapy session.
How do I prepare for my first counseling session? And what should I expect?
Intake paperwork is emailed to each new client. When an individual books a couples intake session, I will reach out via email to request his or her partner’s contact information which allows me to create a profile for the partner within our scheduling system. Once the profile is created the partner will also receive intake paperwork via email.
When session begins, we will go over the paperwork and answer any questions you may have about our policies, confidentiality, and procedures. Together we will discuss the focus of therapy, goals, expectations, and scheduling of therapy.
